Autumn enjoyment in the Bregenzerwald

The evenings are getting cooler, the days shorter, and nature is showing itself in its most beautiful orange-yellow tones: golden autumn has arrived.

This most colorful time of year can be enjoyed especially well in the mountains before winter announces its arrival with the first snowflakes. The special atmosphere of autumn in the mountains can be experienced not only while hiking – it's also a true culinary delight in our mountains!

Hiking autumn culinary delights

Hiking with Kaiserschmarren and mountain panorama

Can't decide whether to hike through the mountains in autumn or indulge in autumnal culinary delights? Then our holiday fairy has the perfect combination for you: hiking with Kaiserschmarren and a 360-degree mountain panorama.

Route to the Hochalphütte and the Panoramasee

You can comfortably cover the first few hundred meters of elevation with the Steffisalp cable car, from where the hike to the Hochalphütte begins. After about 15 minutes, you should enjoy the view at the Spitziger Stein – and also take a look back: there lies the blue-green reservoir, which offers a panoramic view of the Biberkopf.

After about 20 minutes you'll reach the Hochalphütte, where Kaiserschmarren, blueberry Kaiserschmarren, and other familiar favorites await you. With enough energy replenished, a detour to the panoramic lake is well worth it. Perched atop the Salobersattel, its turquoise-blue waters shimmer against the backdrop of the imposing Widderstein.

Tip: hot stone at the high alpine hut

On Saturday evenings, the Hochalphütte offers its culinary highlight, "hot stone," by prior arrangement: Dips and savory side dishes are served – and you can grill various types of meat, fish, and shrimp to your heart's content on the preheated natural stone. Vegetarian options are also available.

The train will take you comfortably up until 5:00 pm, and you can easily walk back down – a post-meal stroll included.

Enjoyment. Autumn. Time.
